Map 4 Spawn and Hub
by Syntaxvgm on Dec 15, 2025

Alright, listen close, here's how we're doin this shit.
The first thing we should get out of the way is the hub and spawn will both be less strict and organized than the nether tunnels. There's a chance that you can do everything right for certain things and have your builds altered or struck because of a skill issue among other reasons. Don't worry, I suck at visual design in this game too, I'll probably get overwritten a lot. It'll all depend on what you're contributing to and how "contested" it would be. For these main buildings, try to remember it's a possibility when you make it and not take it personally. Once each of these main buildings seems to have its shit together, we'll mark them to not be majorly changed without approval.
Spawn
Do not start on building spawn until the announcement. This page will be updated when we start and an announcement will be made in Discord. The basic shape and a couple of key buildings will be laid out in wool or something. We also want to give a bit of time for people to get settled where their base will be before going back to spawn to work on it. We're not laying out an exact time like we will the dragon fight, but it'll be within the first few days. A fancy MSPaint diagram with more detail will be uploaded here once we start.
WorldSpawn building
The WorldSpawn building will be roughly 40x40 blocks and the position of it will be laid out by staff to be near shops. We'll want the door to face a certain direction, and aside from that we're letting her rip. It will contain the main nether portal near 0,0. The blocks above the spawn block (we'll mark that for you) must be certain blocks, mostly non full blocks, or players will spawn on top of the building.
Please understand that by contributing to the WorldSpawn building you are contributing to the only WorldSpawn building. As such there it is more likely than it is not that changes will happen, if not outright replacement
At some point, staff will mark it 'complete', and only allow changes with approval.
Buildings surrounding WorldSpawn
The 'non-essential' buildings will be in the form of a town around spawn, however expansion will happen away from shops on the backside so it can expand as it needs. The main rule is to build kinda-sorta-medieval. This isn't "this is not actually a building technique they had then" sort of pedantry, it's more leave the giant Rubik's Cube build for a shop or something. Just make it look older, grounded, make sure it fits in, and you'll be fine.
The 'spawn town' should be a town with reasonable buildings. If it's larger than about 20x20, consult with staff. It shouldn't need to be in most cases, but if it's reasonable we'll probably say yes. Don't try to push lines for the sake of being a habitual line-stepper either. We don't want huge dumbass builds ruining everyone's day, but if you have a solid plan for something that looks reasonable next to everything, we'll say yes. Where main buildings may get heavily changed or outright overwritten in the future, buildings around spawn shouldn't unless they're not built in good spirit and are causing problems.
You'll be allowed to store stuff in building you make and even a camp out there, just please no redstone aside from passive doors and stuff and no farms. If you want to make a little mini base and hand farm trees and stuff underground, it's your business what you do in your basement. Please use no chests, barrels only for lag reasons. Lock any hoppers you use for decorative reasons.
Common public easements, like the areas between buildings, are free to decorate how you see fit, again assuming you are responsible. There will be no plots, just a general area to put stuff. Try to build in reasonable spots.
Understand that in general, if you are not going with the flow, you are gonna have a bad time.
Please ask staff before altering other people's buildings. In the area around them, try to make small incremental improvements.
The nether hub
The hub will be a box, and the box can be boxxed up right away. We might even break the roof on the box later. We will spawnproof an area, ice it up, and make walls and a ceiling. From iron blocks or wood for all it matters. Then we'll decorate it with maps, banners, and further whatnot. I expect it might lag a bit, and we'll live with that as long as spawn doesn't. Entity culling mods help a LOT for this, so if you like can't play at all near the hub ask for help someone will help you mod it so you ain't loading the shit you ain't looking at.
For the nether hub, I'd like everyone to focus on making it 'lived in' over pretty. Leave useful things, neat flairs, but don't dominate it since it's one build we all share. Can you go and say replace the iron block (or whatever cheap block) walls with something that looks nice? Yes, you can, but you absolutely may not do so at the cost of the character. If there's banners, you must incorporate them. Try to keep signs and stuff. Do not log out with people's banners and map arts in your inventory. Small improvements only is the idea in general for the hub.
You are encouraged to decorate the nether hub with your map art, you banners, and small pieces of you. Do not drown out others. It may end up ugly, but it'll have a piece of everyone. There may come a point where like the main spawn building it gets soft 'locked', but only for the main design if it ends up looking like it's in a good steady state. In that case you'd still be allowed to add flair to it.
The size of the hub will be marked out as about 1/8 of the red box in spawn. Events area will be located in a tunnel. Please do not move the starting marker for tunnels once it has been made.
In general
The nether tunnels are more structured and carefully managed to make sure everyone can get a piece. Spawn and the hub will be more wild. Not everything will go your way if you come with pre-made designs you want to implement and especially if they're big in nature. But if you just go with the flow and build as you see fit understanding that not all of it may stay, you'll have a good time.
The spawn and the hub will not be as 'fair' and protected as tunnels, but as long as you practice responsible building, reasonable expectations, and safe sex, no one should come out way too butthurt.
Finally Please keep mobs to a minimum in these builds. Your craptop friends will thank you.
